Notarized translation into French is required for any document (identification certificate, education certificates) that needs to be presented to French authorities. The translation of documents from French to Hebrew is necessary for immigration and aliyah to Israel<\/a>. Translation of French documents into Hebrew is also needed for French citizens starting studies at higher education institutions in Israel or who need to submit public French certificates in Israel.<\/p>\n

Documents issued in Israel are in Hebrew or, in rare cases, in English. It is well known that French authorities uphold francophone pride and do not accept documents that are not in the French language. On the other hand, Israeli authorities will generally not accept French documents (immigration clerks may accept documents in a language they speak, but rarely do so). What is the difference between a translator’s affidavit and a notarized translation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Both a notarized translation and a translator’s affidavit<\/a> fall under the category of “notarized translation.” A notary who reads both the source language and the translated language can verify that the translated document is an accurate translation of the original document. In most cases, the notary does not in fact speak the translation language, so they approve the translator\u2019s affidavit, confirming the translation\u2019s accuracy. In both cases, the document is signed with a notary seal and ribbon of notarized translation.<\/p>\n

In certain cases, such as immigration to Israel, the Ministry of Interior may refuse to accept a translation verified with a translator’s declaration. It is recommended to specify in the translation request whether the documents are intended for submission to the Ministry of Interior so that we can provide the appropriate guidance.<\/p>\n

Do documents bearing an apostille seal require notarized translation from French?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

An apostille seal is required for verifying public certificates<\/a> issued in Israel for foreign countries that are signatories to The Hague Apostille Convention for certifying foreign documents. The apostille is similar to the value of a notarized translation (on an international level among countries that signed the convention), but the two are not directly related.
